Learning outcome

After successfully completing Technical English 1, students can speak about materials and their technical properties, present and describe technical processes at various stages and production techniques. They can explain technical advantages and disadvantages as well as quality aspects and specifications of products to customers. Furthermore, students can write polite emails of complaint and reply to complaints in which they can name and analyse different types of technical problems, describe errors/defects and suggest ways to solve them. Furthermore, they can understand and describe safety and specify measurement parameters.
As a result of targeted vocabulary expansion students can reflect on several applications of technology and the latest technical developments. They are able to critically interpret literature from technical trade magazines.
