Learning outcome

After successful completion of the module, students can:

  • classify current debates on the European integration process analytically in the existing spectrum of theories,
  • apply different integration theories to analyse of social developments in the member states and in the European area,
  • recognise political and social developments with reference to Europe, argue on the basis of theory and draw up comparative analyses,
  • differentiate between political science approaches and different theoretical approaches to European integration, analyse them comparatively and evaluate them with regard to their practical relevance for the analysis of policy fields,
  • actively participate in discussions with stakeholders from politics and business.
