  • Critical reflection of economic policy measures from the perspective of different paradigms.
  • Focus on current areas of monetary, fiscal and distributional policy, as well as other current policy areas. Examples:
  • Multiannual financial framework of the EU and fiscal fed-eralism.
  • Monetary policy and its limits
  • Economic policy of the EU
  • Investment and infrastructure policy at national and su-pranational level
  • Importance of social policy in Europe
  • Importance of environmental policy in Europe

Learning outcome

After successful completion of the module, students can:

  • explain and outline core elements of general economic policy, espe-cially with regard to their interplay between national, international and supranational levels,
  • distinguish and assign measures of general economic policy as well as approaches to economic policy according to different economic para-digms and to apply them to current issues,
  • critically reflect on the existing framework conditions (institutions, actors) of economic policy measures with regard to the achievement of economic policy goals regarding the applicability of the underlying economic paradigm,
  • to outline policy measures independently on a general level.
