Text exercises (individual work); final paper in research groups; defense of findings in a final student conference (students alternate between their roles as presenters, discussants and audience).

Continuous assessment (practical parts, 100%) = 30% exercises and text assignments; 20% student conference (presentation & discussion); 50% seminar paper

Learning outcome
After successful completion of the module, students can:
- trace the genesis and historical development of European welfare systems within the interplay of European economic integration and European policy coordination,
- classify different structures and social systems and derive the corresponding design of economic policy,
- critically reflect on the socio-political effects of the different economic and social systems on areas such as social (in)equality, employment, health care and poverty reduction.
