  • Reading techniques, organisation of literature
  • Organisation and structure of scientific theses, scientific language
Part 2 – qualitative research:
  • Scientific theory (especially interpretative paradigm)
  • Interview forms and techniques
  • Application (contruction of guidelines, access to the field), documentation (transcripts and minutes)
  • Evaluation and analysis (qualitative content analysis)
  • Carrying out a qualitative research project

Learning outcome

After successful completion of the course, the students can

  • search for scientific specialised literature in databases and evaluate their quality
  • write summaries and excerpts of texts and compare different points of view
  • formulate research questions for qualitative research projects and develop a research design
  • select suitable methods for the purpose of acquisition, evaluation and analysis and justify the choice methodically and epistemologically apply the selected methods in practice
  • evaluate qualitative data by means of qualitative content analysis
  • critically reflect on and interpret results
