Elective: Chinese Language and Culture

The course will cover a wide range of topics and will be taught in different forms: lectures, presentations, case studies (Chinese International Companies studies) and cultural activities. During the lectures, topics such as basic vocabulary and writing, the Chinese Belt and Road initiative, banking in China, and cultural specificities will be presented. This structure aims to give participants the basic understanding of Chinese culture and business development and challenges ahead when doing business with China

Learning outcome

By the end of the course, participants will be able to

  • use their Chinese language skills to have basic conversations about everyday life and business occasion.
After the ten sessions, participants will understand China’s economy and culture by discussing current trends that influence China as well as the world. They will learn how to use effective cross- culture communication skills. This will enable them to be more effective in dealing with Chinese companies in their future careers. In addition, they can further improve their Chinese language skills themselves by using the methodology taught in this course
