Animation Techniques (Visual Effects")"

The course outlines the fundamentals of animation techniques and offers terminology and an overview of 2D and 3D animation, character animation, visual effects ("VFX"), animation/effects producing. Other key issues of this course are technical directing and workflow in animation and effects projects, computer generated imagery (CGI), models and miniatures, blue/green screen techniques as well as interactive and cross-platform AV production. Technical tools (3D Stereo Optitrec Motion Capture System, etc), studio engineering and software for 2D and 3D animations will also be discussed.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Applied methods including macro and micro levels of teaching. Macro methods are case studies and analyses from the media sector (including visual effects and animations). Micro methods are keynote lectures, dialogic learning and discussions. Students work individually as well as in pairs or groups, sometimes in the plenum.
