Stay abroad

Contact the International Office of the host university

  • At the beginning of your semester abroad, it is important that you get in touch with the International Office at your host university. They will help you with any problems that arise and often organize welcome or orientation events that you should attend. They can also inform you about student support services such as buddy programmes or language tandems as well as student organizations and facilities that you may wish to use.

Certificate of arrival

  • The certificate of arrival confirms that you are present at the host university. Please have it signed by the International Office of your host university and send it to the Outgoing Mobility Coordinator after your arrival.

Changes to your learning agreement

  • It is possible that your learning agreement will need to be changed. In this case, please contact the International Office of your host university. In addition, your degree programme must confirm the recognition options by signing your amended learning agreement. If you need support during this process, please contact the International Mobility Coordinator.

CREACT Intercultural Development

  • If you have signed up for the CREACT module, you will also take part in regular online sessions to help you overcome any intercultural challenges you may encounter. In addition to academic training, lifelong friendships and important personal developments are often made during your time abroad. With CREACT, you have the opportunity to share your experiences with other outgoing students from around the world.

Photo competition

  • The University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna regularly organizes photo competitions in which outgoing students present pictures of their international and intercultural experiences. You can win attractive prizes, so take inspiring pictures during your stay abroad!

Report on the semester abroad

  • During your semester abroad, you should also reflect on your experience and collect information that could be useful for your final report, which you will have to submit after your stay abroad. Please also use pictures to help your fellow students who want to go abroad to find out about your host university and country.

Green mobility

  • Can you travel back to Vienna by train or bus? There is a green mobility grant. Contact our Outgoing Mobility Coordinator for more information and keep your receipts.
