Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Independent (literature) research, systematic selection and evaluation of literature, independent formulation of questions and hypotheses and other epistemological aspects, implementation of content and textual design, proper working with documentary material and citation techniques, independent repetition and application of the standards of scientific work, individual presentations, group discussions and reflection on the content of the master theses, exercises on the content-related interconnection of the topics of the master theses with questions of European economic policy.

Learning outcome
After successful completion of the module, students can:
- independently carry out the preparatory work required for writing a scientific thesis, such as source search and research, also in electronic media, and use the working methods and argumentation techniques, theory building and empirical sources of economic and/or political science,
- independently formulate and structure specific research objectives, clear research questions and hypotheses, and draft a work plan for the scientific penetration and treatment of the topic for the Master thesis,
- independently deal with an economic and/or political science problem of practical relevance to Europe using adequate methods in a comprehensive analysis within a given time frame according to the principles of scientific work by transforming research objectives, theoretical and methodological knowledge as well as empirical facts into a consistent and convincing scientific text that expands the existing knowledge in a specific field of research,
- compile subject-specific and methodological study contents in a structured way into a coherent whole in one's own research project and present this project to a seminar audience, consult and discuss it together in order to draw conclusions for its further development.
