Brief description

· Revision and application of advanced grammar skills on level C1/C2 (Passive, Conditionals, Modals, Reported Speech, Verbs + infinitive or -ing)
· Selected chapters from the Advanced Market Leader book linked to the contents of the degree programme (Finance, Consultants, Strategy, Project Management)
· (Group) presentations whose contents are based on/linked to the contents of the semester and degree programme
· Industry-relevant texts, articles and listening comprehensions
· Industry-relevant group discussions, case studies and role plays
· Reflection on discussed contents, also as the basis for the English courses in the third and fourth semester

Assessment methods and criteria

50 % final written exam (20 % grammar, 20 % vocabulary, 10 % writing), 20 % group presentation (content, presentation, slides, language, transitions, etc.), 10 % active participation in the (virtual) classroom, 20 % 2 written home assignments (content, use of formal language, vocabulary, grammar, etc.)

After successful completion of this course, students are able to

  • actively apply their advanced grammar skills,
  • actively apply their formal writing and speaking skills in written assignments, presentations, group discussions, etc,
  • read industry-relevant texts, articles, etc., answer questions and critically reflect on contents,
  • participate in group discussions, role plays, etc. by using formal and diplomatic language,
  • reflect on their own mistakes and apply lessons learned in the future.
