Rethinking Management: Interdisciplinary and Responsible

This three-semester Master’s degree programme combines business and management expertise with perspectives from economics, law, political science, digitalisation and intercultural learning.

Business decisions are increasingly shaped by social, political and technological developments. Students learn to analyse complex economic and societal interrelationships across disciplinary boundaries and to incorporate different perspectives into strategic decision-making. The programme focuses on how organisations can be designed and further developed in an environment shaped by internationalisation, transformation, regulation and technological change.

Students also explore the opportunities and challenges associated with emerging technologies and artificial intelligence.

Thinking Internationally and Leading Responsibly

International perspectives are embedded throughout the programme. Students engage with international economic relations, European frameworks and global management challenges. English-taught content, foreign language courses and Cultural Studies complement these areas of study.

In line with the concept of “Cultural Readiness”, students develop an understanding of different cultural perspectives and strengthen their ability to act professionally in international and intercultural work and leadership contexts.

At the same time, students engage in depth with responsible leadership. They learn to incorporate different perspectives, lead teams and actively help shape processes of change. Responsible Leadership, Governance and European values provide key foundations for a modern understanding of leadership.

Combining Business Decisions with Social Responsibility

The programme combines management expertise with a clear commitment to social responsibility. Sustainability is integrated across the curriculum as a cross-cutting theme and linked to questions of responsible corporate governance, societal transformation and governance.

Students also develop data and digital skills that enable them to make evidence-based and well-considered decisions. Particular emphasis is placed on the responsible use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, as well as on the principles of Digital Humanism.

As a graduate you will be able to:

  • analyse economic, political, regulatory and societal conditions in national and international contexts, assess their impact on organisations, and derive strategic courses of action.
  • design transformation, innovation and change processes within organisations, make informed decisions, and manage these processes, particularly in the context of digital and sustainable transformation.
  • analyse governance, sustainability and regulatory requirements and integrate them into strategic management decisions.
  • apply qualitative and quantitative methods of analysis and evaluation, interpret data, develop evidence-based foundations for decision-making, and use these to inform strategic decisions.
  • effectively lead teams, departments and/or organisations in culturally diverse, interdisciplinary and international environments and foster successful intercultural collaboration.
  • coordinate innovation processes, strategic projects, programmes or organisational units and assume responsibility for decision-making and management processes.
  • anticipate the interests of different stakeholders from business, politics, public administration and civil society and design appropriate governance structures to enable effective collaboration
  • critically assess and align management decisions with sustainability considerations, social and legal responsibilities, and ethical principles.
  • independently address management challenges, critically reflect on your own leadership and decision-making practices, and engage in continuous learning and development.

Typical career fields open to you after graduation:

  • Project and Programme Manager
  • Strategy and Organisational Development Officer or Specialist
  • Analyst in strategy, innovation or transformation projects
  • Staff roles in corporate development, governance or sustainability management
  • Policy Analyst or Policy Officer in public institutions
