Educating for Global Competence - Master Week network

Called ‘Education for Global Competence’, the University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna initiated the International Master Week network in 2013. A grant from the City of Vienna allowed us to set up a long-term project that has been consolidated since the end of the funding period. UAS BFI Vienna hosted the event for the first three years. During this period, the design of the International Master Week was continuously evaluated and adapted in consultation with the network partners. Since the conclusion of the government-funded project, the International Master Week has been staged alternately by the University of Economics in Katowice and the European University of Applied Sciences (EUFH) in Brühl, Germany. In parallel with the annual master week for students, a meeting of lecturers and organisation team members from the network universities takes place each year, in order to assess quality and identify potential quality improvements.

Aim of the International Master Week

The International Master Week aims to bring together students from EU and non-EU countries and give them the opportunity to experience intercultural learning in a highly diverse, productive environment. The focus is on current international topics and challenges in the following subjects:

  • Emerging Markets and Sustainability
  • Managing International Projects

Students select one field and then receive coaching from partner universities’ lecturers which enables them to devise solutions to case studies based on real-life examples.
