Master Thesis
Brief description
The master thesis is an academic piece of work in which the student works on, and answers one or several useful research questions in an independent, individual and thorough manner. The research questions relate to an interesting topic or field of research relevant to the master programme. In view of the required innovative character of a master thesis, it is desirable that empirical data be collected and analysed, which should also be considered when the thesis is graded.

The master thesis is an independent written work at academic level. The assessment is based on formal criteria (10 points) and content criteria (90 points). Additionally, there is a plagiarism check electronically and manually.

Learning outcome
After the successful completion of the master thesis students are able to accomplish independent academic work and to answer a focused research question. Students are able to justify the research method(s) selected and are able to defend the chosen research design. The students are able to show the topicality and scientific and practical relevance of the master thesis. They are able to clearly indicate all concepts and assumptions. They are able to critically reflect on their results and give recommendations for further scientific work.
