Information for applicants


1. Data controller
The University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna, Wohlmutstraße 22, 1020 Vienna (hereinafter referred to as "University of Applied Sciences") (for contact information see point 6 below) is the data controller and processes the personal data that you yourself have provided in the course of the online application.

2. Purposes and legal basis of data processing

  • In the course of your application
    The processing of the data provided by you is carried out in a first step for the purpose of processing your application.
    The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of the pre-contractual relationship that exists between you and the UAS on the basis of your application.
    You are neither legally nor contractually obliged to disclose this data, but it is necessary in order to be able to consider your application.
  • If your application is rejected
    (i) the further storage of the data you have provided will be for the purpose of fulfilling legal retention obligations and for the assertion, exercise or defence of (potential) legal claims; and
    (ii) further processing of the data you have provided may be for the purpose of keeping a record of your application if you have given your consent to this.
  • While your contract of employment or lectureship is in force
    If your application is successful, you will receive an offer from the University of Applied Sciences to conclude a service or lecturer contract. Should such a contract be concluded between you and the University of Applied Sciences, the data provided by you in the course of your online application or in the course of the contract negotiations will be processed from this point onwards for the purpose of fulfilling the employment or lecturer contract as well as the legal obligations of the University of Applied Sciences.

3. Recipients of your personal data
The data you provide will only be processed by employees of the University of Applied Sciences. Data will only be passed on to other recipients in order to fulfil the legal obligations of the University of Applied Sciences.

4. Duration of the storage of your personal dataIf your application is rejected, the data you have provided will be deleted three years after the notification of the rejection decision has been sent to you. If you have consented to your data being kept on file for one year, the data you have provided will be deleted three years after the end of the retention period (i.e. four years after you have given your consent).
In the event of a successful application, the data you have provided will only be processed by us for as long as is necessary to achieve the purposes stated under point 2. c) and as required by applicable law. We store the data you have provided in any case until the expiry of limitation periods for potential legal claims or as long as this is required by statutory retention obligations.

5. Your rights as a data subject
According to the current legal situation, you have the following rights regarding your personal data
- to information, correction or deletion, restriction of processing, objection and data portability. These rights can be asserted at the UAS (for contact details, see point 6).
- to lodge a complaint, which can be asserted with the competent supervisory authority (in Austria: Austrian Data Protection Authority).
