Communication-oriented teaching: The objectives are professional and everyday situations at the following levels: Spanish without previous knowledge (A2), Spanish with previous knowledge (B1), Russian without previous knowledge (A2), Russian with previous knowledge (A2/B1). Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Communicative approach under consideration of the four language skills: listening, reading, writing, speaking (interaction and production). Exercises with practical examples, discussions, role plays, simulations, pair work, group work, class discussions. Exercises in Moodle.

Assessment methods and criteria

Continuous assessment (students are assessed on their assignments, class participation, presentations, speaking / listening skills and a written exam). Students can take an official certified language test on a voluntary basis.

Learning outcome

After successful completion of the course students with no previous knowledge (A2) can understand basic personal letters, information and reports on activities of daily life, look for and find information in authentic documents, e.g. brochures and websites, exemplify stories and reports on familiar topics when spoken clearly and are able to follow telephone conversations. They can write short and simple notes and messages, personal letters about everyday life, and travel plans, respond and follow conversations on familiar topics, make, accept or reject invitations and express preferences and consent. After the successful completion of the course the students with previous knowledge (B1) can write general texts in which they report feelings, wishes and events, understand radio and television broadcasts if presented in a clear standard speech, and reflect the contents of a professional presentation. They can make brief written personal statements, compose simple texts on topics of interest in professional contexts, reproduce the contents of meetings and write reports, informative letters and CVs. Students can participate in informal and formal business situations, report on familiar topics and express their opinions or points of view on certain issues. They are able to present products, represent companies, explain the pros and cons of a topic and answer questions.
