After successful completion of the course, students can:

  • describe and explain the development of the European Union (EU) and interpret it by means of integration theories
  • explain and distinguish between the roles and competences of actors along the policy cycle of Multilevel Governance
  • trace and explain the main decision-making procedures
  • explain the main features of the EU's main policies and their development
  • identify crucial questions on the state of play of the EU
  • evaluate current shortcomings and develop own arguments on possible treaty reforms
