Lernergebnisse der Lehrveranstaltung
After successful completion of the module, students can: • explain the basics of empirical social and economic research as well as the role of statistics in economic policy advice, • explain the essential theoretical background as well as the methodological and technical foundations of quantitative EU procedures and reports, and examine and evaluate their appropriateness in the con-text of macroeconomic analyses, • interpret and assess the quality of social and economic data collected using quantitative and qualitative methods, • visualize data provided by EU institutions and process them using statistical methods in such a way that they depict economic, political and social problems and developments, • select from the available statistics and existing research results the most suitable for the respective purpose on the basis of a concrete problem from economic policy advice at EU level, and are able to carry out their own analyses and assess the quality and the limits of their results.
