Lehrinhalte
The most important schools of thought on national and international, military and political security are presented in order to gain a structured, theory-based foundation for the analysis of foreign policy and international politics. Furthermore, the most important norms of international law - both written and customary international law - are covered. In addition, legally compliant and illegal strategies of states to exert pressure on other states are discussed. Finally, students gain insight into current and recent violent conflicts in international politics.

Lernergebnisse der Lehrveranstaltung
After successful completion of the course, students can: - present and interpret international politics and foreign policy in a structured way on the basis of theories - describe the different dimensions of security - recognise central norms of written international law and customary international law - describe state strategies to exert pressure on other states - distinguish between lawful and unlawful strategies of states on the basis of criteria - explain current violent conflicts and crises in a sustainable way. The learning outcomes of this course contribute mainly to the following (international) programme learning outcomes: LO 2.1.
