Development Projects and Concepts

The course consists of issues regarding the areas of creativity techniques – intuitive and discursive creativity methods – and mental mapping. Methods of analysis and methods for the identification of structures as well as for dealing with problems/project concepts are taught. Furthermore, decision-making and evaluation methods – formal, systematic, standardized and objective decision-making aids for the transparent comparison of alternatives – will be discussed, and emotive, subjective evaluation methods will be introduced. In the area of communication methods, other methods and fields of application, such as construction and deconstruction, innovation and invention, clustering and modelling, will be introduced.

IC, the application of course content will be demonstrated by means of practical examples and the discussion of relevant case study results from the area of film and media.

Assessment methods and criteria

One grade for both lecture and tutorial part of class. In total 70 points for final written exam. The tutorial part is worth 30 points (continuous assessment). In total 100 points are to be obtained.

Learning outcome

After the successful completion of this course the students will be able to solve problems in the areas of project and concept development. The students will be able to employ different methods and to approach problems in a structured way, and they will be able to work on project concepts in a creative way.
