Fundamentals of Film, TV and Meia Production

This course focuses on the fundamentals of the film industry and production engineering and analyzes production stages (pre-production, production, post-production) as well as working methods and vocational fields in the film industry. Specifics of different genres and media as well as the use of technical means for the creation of films. Furthermore, funding and stations in the AV industry, capacities, turnovers and the employment situation will be examined and analyzed and applied to individual segments of AV production, such as film, TV, image, advertising, multimedia products.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Applied methods including macro and micro levels of teaching. Macro methods are analyses of markets and statistics. Micro methods are keynote lectures and examples for demonstration. Students work in the plenum. Academic success depends on the presence of the students in the lectures.

Final exam consisting of multiple choice and open questions (100 points in total)

Learning outcome

After the successful completion of this course the students will be able to describe the most important sectors of the film, TV and media industry as well as key market data. The students will be able to interpret structural, economic and political framework conditions of the film industry and to adjust their business planning according to these conditions.
